Local restaurants will treat clients of the Gospel Mission in downtown Kelowna to gourmet meals over the next several weeks.
The restaurants will bring chefs, staff and food to the mission, and cook up meals for more than 200 people.
“The Christmas season is a difficult time for the homeless and these great restaurants are helping to bring hope for the holidays,” Randy Benson, executive director of the Gospel Mission, said in a press release. “We are so humbled and grateful.”
“Kelowna is such a generous and wonderful city. With the help of our volunteers we have been serving over 500 meals everyday so, when these incredible chefs bring in all the food and staff, it is an amazing treat and a fun sight to see,” Kitchen Manager Mandy Phillips said in the release. “Our guests feel so honoured and grateful for these special meals. This is an incredible way of giving back to our community and to bring Christmas to people in need.”
The restaurants include Hotel Edorado, Delta Grand, Lake City Casino, and the Four Points Hotel.
The cold weather means the shelter is now open 24/7.
