Driver mixes brake with gas

There are only two foot pedals in the vehicle. Unfortunately, a driver in Kelowna got them mixed up Thursday.

And what resulted left her shaken up, and her vehicle beaten up.

At about 9 a.m., the woman was driving her SUV into an automated car wash when she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake pedal.

The vehicle shot forward and smashed into a brick exterior wall, leaving the building intact, but the front of the SUV badly crumpled.

A similar ‘pedal mix-up’ incident happened Wednesday in West Kelowna.

Police say it can happen to anyone.

“I know studies been done show some older people, she’s not older, middle-aged. But some older people will drive with both feet so that increases the chances of that but in this case that’s not what happened. this is a true accident,” says Constable, Lise Marion.
