A Saskatoon bellhop has been named this year’s best tourism employee in the country.
Dan Cardinal, who works at the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon Hotel, won the 2016 Canada Tourism Employee of the Year Award.

He and thirteen other recipients were honoured during a ceremony in Quebec last week by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC).
The Canadian Tourism Awards are presented annually to recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada’s tourism industry as well as to reward those that have gone above and beyond to offer travellers superior experiences.
Cardinal was brought up in Ituna, Sask., and started working at the hotel back in 1969. After 47 years of service, Cardinal said he doesn’t plan on retiring until he makes it to the 50-year milestone.
Wanuskewin Heritage Park, north of Saskatoon, was given the 2016 National Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Award.
