AHL suspends Manitoba Moose defenceman Brenden Kichton

WINNIPEG – Manitoba Moose defenceman Brenden Kichton will miss the next couple games after being handed a two game suspension by the American Hockey League.

The league announced the suspension just prior to Sunday’s rematch with the Texas Stars.

Kichton, 24, checked Stars forward Gemel Smith in the neutral zone during the second period of Saturday’s 6-1 loss. Kichton was assessed a five minute match penalty for an illegal check to the head and a game misconduct on the play.

Kichton has three assists in 11 games this season. He’ll also sit out their game on Friday against Cleveland and will be eligible to return on Saturday, December 10.
