People are helping to turn in poachers, with over 1,000 calls made yearly to the Saskatchewan TIP line.
Officials said those calls play a significant role in helping the province deal with poachers.
”The 24 hour anonymous TIP line allows the public to report resource-related criminal activity as it is happening, or provide crucial information to help ministry conservation officers solve these cases,” Scott Moe, Saskatchewan’s environment minister, said in a release.

Moe said callers to the TIP line not only help conservation officers with illegal hunting and fishing, but also with environmental offences.
“Saskatchewan residents should know that TIP is available for calls about environmental polluters and illegal dumping in addition to poaching,” Moe said.
Provincial courts have issued over $150,000 in fines since 2015.

Conservation officers also hand out thousands of warnings each year.
Anyone suspecting wildlife, fisheries, forestry or environmental violations can contact the Saskatchewan TIP line at 1-800-667-7561 or submit a tip online.
All calls and submissions are confidential and people providing information that leads to a conviction could be eligible for an award of up to $2,000.
