Saskatoon police Taser woman armed with ‘edged weapon’

A woman was sent to hospital after Saskatoon police used a Taser on her.

At around 8:20 p.m. CT on Saturday, officers were called to an apartment building in the 1300-block of Temperance Street after receiving reports that a man had breached his court orders.

When they arrived, the man was arrested without incident.

However, police said as they tried to leave the scene, a woman known to the arrested man charged at them, while holding what police said was an “edged weapon.”

Officers said they asked the woman to drop her weapon.

When she failed to do so, the Taser was used against her. Police said she was not injured.

The 28-year-old woman is facing two charges of assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
