A baby was ejected from a car during a crash, landing around 35 feet away in a storm drain, suffering just a scratch on her forehead.
Firefighters described the incident as being miraculous.
“There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being okay,” Texarkana, Ark., firefighter Josh Moore told CNN-affiliate KSLA.
He said family members told the fire department the eight-month-old had been thrown from the car and she was missing.

“We immediately began searching in the hay,” Moore said. “A good Samaritan was already out here searching in the hay, and he claimed he heard something” near a grate which sits in the median of the highway.

They removed some hay which was covering the drainage grate and found the child.
“The baby at the time – the eight-month-old – was actually sitting down in the grate, sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out. She wasn’t screaming, she wasn’t crying, was just sitting there waiting for us,” Moore said.
The girl was evaluated by EMTs who only found a scratch on her forehead.

There were five passengers in the car although none were seriously injured. They were taken to hospital for evaluation where four have been released including the baby girl.
Local police told the station the car seat had not been properly installed.
