Environment Canada said heavy snow is expected for the regions of East Columbia, Shuswap, West Columbia and Whistler.

Snow is expected to fall on the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagles Pass to Rogers Pass, which could lead to treacherous driving conditions.

“A low pressure system will continue to give snow to Rogers passes today,” an Environment Canada statement said. “Total snow accumulations of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected before the snow tapers off to a few flurries late this afternoon. Snow [has] changed to scattered flurries or rain showers over Coquihalla Highway and Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton.

There have also been reports of snowfall on Vancouver Island.

Snow is also falling on the North Shore mountains.

Grouse Mountain officially opened Saturday morning for its 90th winter season with skiers. Cypress Mountain kicked off its downhill season Friday. Mount Seymour is open for tobogganing this weekend.
