Northern Alberta shooting sends man to hospital with head injury

A shooting in a northern Alberta community sent a man to an Edmonton hospital early Saturday morning.

Athabasca RCMP said a 25-year-old man suffered an injury to his head during a shooting on the Jean Baptiste Gambler First Nations Reserve.

Police said the victim was sitting in a parked vehicle when shots were fired at him. He was able to drive to a home and get help.

The victim was flown to an Edmonton hospital, but has since returned to Athabasca where he’s recovering.

RCMP have yet to find any suspects.

A possibly small, red car was seen in the area during the shooting.
