Fire extinguishers thrown from stolen car before crashing into transit bus

Halifax Police are searching for four people after fire extinguishers were thrown from a stolen car as it sped away from police.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday night, a vehicle refused to stop for a Halifax Regional Police traffic stop and fled the scene, throwing the fire extinguishers.

At 9:47 p.m. police responded to a collision report between a Halifax Transit bus and the same car on North and Robie Street.

The bus was hit by the car causing it to crash into a brick wall on the sidewalk.

Witness reports say four occupants got out of the car and fled from the scene on foot.

No transit passengers were injured but the male bus driver was taken to hospital for an assessment.

Police have determined that the vehicle was reported stolen from the Sackville area earlier in November.

The driver is a male and the other occupants were one female and two other males.

They all appeared to be between 16 and 20 years old.
