Which is your favourite city to perform in?

Dubai. I grew up there; all my friends are there. Everything they do is so extravagant.

What was your most embarrassing moment on the road?

While on tour in Manitoba, my manager forgot to update the GPS and we became stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by swampland, in the middle of the night. It was really scary.

And the embarrassing part?

I’m the one who told the manager not to splurge $50 on updating the GPS.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

Michael Jackson. Seeing him perform in Dubai when I was a kid changed my life.

What is your favourite song?

Africa by Toto. I remember being 10 years old. I was in Lebanon and I was listening to the song with a friend and she leaned in and gave me a kiss. It was my first kiss.

Also my remake of the song became one of my biggest successes.

What do you miss most about Montreal?

The food. I miss the variety and authenticity. You have Greek food made by Greeks, Lebanese food…all the families are here. In Toronto and New York the food is — Americanized?
