Local media reported the man was violently attacked by another man following an argument.
Clever Campos, 28, remained conscious throughout the entire ordeal, walking into Loreto Regional Hospital, under his own power, to the surprise of doctors.

Following surgery in the hospital’s intensive care unit, which lasted for hours, the knife was removed from Campos’ head.
Campos remains in hospital and doctors have said his outlook remains critical.
Campos was attacked by 30-year-old Henry Saldana in the district of Punchana.
Saldana, who has now been arrested, admitted to stabbing Campos because he accused the victim of stealing his motorbike, which he uses as a taxi, a month ago, according to local media reports.
