Canadian Forces investigate decades-old child sexual assault case at CFB Edmonton

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service is calling on the public for information as it investigates the alleged sexual assault of a child on Canadian Forces Base Edmonton over three decades ago.

According to military police, the investigation revolves around a non-family, non-military youth who allegedly sexually assaulted a child while babysitting them in a residential housing unit at the base. The incidents reportedly took place between 1978 and 1980.

“We take all allegations of sexual assault seriously and conduct our investigations in a deliberate and comprehensive manner to determine the facts, analyze the evidence, and if warranted, lay appropriate charges,” Lt.-Col. Francis Bolduc, commanding officer of the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service, said in a statement Monday.

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service is part of the Canadian Forces Military Police Group, which is tasked with investigating serious and sensitive matters connected to Department of National Defence (DND) property, DND employees and Canadian Armed Forces personnel serving across the country and across the globe.
