Change is coming to the intersection on Cavendish Boulevard and Kildare Road in Côte Saint-Luc.
As of Nov. 15, the intersection’s traffic lights will have a split configuration.

That means motorists travelling westbound on Kildare Road will be able to drive through the intersection at Cavendish, while traffic in the opposing direction waits.
“When you’re a mother pushing a stroller it’s really frightening, scary,” Melodie Cohn, a Côte Saint-Luc mother said.
“Presently, I think it’s a death trap.”
“You feel like you’re going to get hit by a car or someone else,” Dan Hocshtatter, who lives near the intersection, said.
“You’re in the danger zone.”
Drivers will be able to turn left, right or go straight without having to battle opposing traffic.

Once the light changes, motorists heading east will have their chance to move through the intersection without interference.

City officials believe crossing the intersection will also be easier for pedestrians as there will be fewer vehicles to look out for.
“Eventually, we’re hoping to reconfigure this whole corner,” Côte Saint-Luc mayor Mitchell Brownstein said.
“But we’re not at that stage. So by changing the lights for now, we think that’s going to be a great improvement.”
