Man stabbed in broad daylight in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — A man was chased, pepper sprayed, and stabbed after refusing to give thieves his belongings Saturday.

Winnipeg Police Service said around 11 a.m. Sautrday, a 34-year-old man was confronted by two people he didn’t know. It happened in the area of the 700 block of Victor Street.

Officers said they asked for the man’s belongings, but he refused and ran. However, the two male suspects caught up with him, pepper sprayed and stabbed him in the lower body.

The 34-year-old was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.

Officers were able to locate the suspects in the area shortly after and arrested both.

Two men are in custody. A 26-year-old and a 28-year-old have both been charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
