Get breaking National news
A moderate southerly flow around 20 km/h helped Saskatoon spring up into high single digits by noon and low double digits by 1 p.m.
Those high clouds will likely linger through the rest of the day as the mercury rises into the low teens this afternoon.
Today’s daytime high record is 16.1 degrees from 1923, which we may not hit as the cloud cover has moved in more significantly than initially anticipated.
Tonight
That high cloud will likely stick around through the evening with some clearing overnight as temperatures dip back to around three degrees.
Wednesday
We may catch another magnificent sunrise tomorrow morning some sunny breaks possible to start before cloud cover moves back in.
Those clouds are likely to clear out late in the day, hopefully giving us some sunshine and a nice sunset to end off the afternoon.
We’ll continue to sit under an upper ridge of high pressure during the day that’ll allow temperatures to reach the mid-teens for an afternoon high.
A high temperature record looks to be at stake tomorrow as the previous record sits at 13.9 degrees from 1917.
A cold front will then move through tomorrow night, kicking up a northwesterly wind around 20 to 30 km/h.
Thursday
Thursday will be a recovery day behind the front as the upper ridge rebuilds.
As that occurs, we may see some more sunshine, however temperatures will be a bit cooler during the day with an afternoon high expected to be in high single digits.
Remembrance Day Friday
There is a bit of discrepancy in the models right now, but it looks like we may get a partly to mostly sunny day for Remembrance Day in Saskatoon.
A moderate southerly wind will kick in during the day with a daytime high back into the low teens.
Depending how warm it gets on Friday, we may see another record fall if the mercury rises above 14.1 degrees, where the previous record sits from 1981.
Weekend Outlook
The weekend should start off warm with a daytime high in the low-to-mid teens on Saturday under a mix of sun and cloud and a slight chance of showers as a cold front pushes through later in the day with windy conditions.
As you’d expect behind a cold front, cooler conditions will prevail for Sunday under mostly sunny skies with a daytime high in mid-to-high single digits.
