Eskimos’ Franklin, Zylstra recognized for outstanding performances against Argonauts

Two Edmonton Eskimos have been named Players of the Week after the team’s dominant performance against the Toronto Argonauts in the final game of the CFL regular season.

Quarterback James Franklin and receiver Brandon Zylstra were both recognized for their performances in the 41-17 victory.

Franklin completed 18-of-23 passes for 335 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions in his first start of the season. The University of Missouri product put up those numbers in three quarters of work.

Zylstra had a career-best nine receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Zylstra was activated off the practice roster in week 14 of the CFL season. In six games since then, he’s recorded 34 receptions for 508 yards with three touchdowns.

It’s the fourth time this season two Eskimos received CFL player honours.

The Eskimos will be in Hamilton Sunday for the east division semi-finals.
