In 2008, after a bitter custody battle with his common law partner, Police suspect Maryk abducted his two children, now 11 year old Dominic and 9-year old Abby with the help from his roommate 42-year old Robert Groen and nephew 23-year old Cody McKay.

In May 2012, a tip led Mexican Authorities to a gated neighbourhood in Guadalajara where they located the children, Maryk and Groen. McKay remains at large.

In September, McKay’s parents Darlene and Bradley were arrested and charged with concealing the Maryk Children from their mother.
