Five people were displaced following a fire in the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood Sunday evening.
Fire crews responded to the scene around 8 p.m. to a home near 119 Ave and 94 Street.
Two people were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Heavy smoke made it difficult for firefighters to assess the situation when they arrived.
“It was tough to find the fire at the beginning because of the smoke conditions,” Mike Westfall, district chief with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said. “EPS showed up on scene first and evacuated three people from the main floor.”
As many as 20 firefighters battled the blaze at one point.
There is no word on a cause.
The fire is still under investigation.
