Today is breakthrough day in Saskatoon with the return of some sun and heat we haven’t seen since the start of the month!

Saskatoon Forecast

Today

After days and days in the cloud with daytime highs between one and three degrees for almost a week, Saskatoon has finally broken through both those barriers!

Mr. Sunshine made an appearance this morning before a deck of clouds rolled back in midday.

Although the sight was brief, the clouds that are rolling through are associated with a warm front that’ll help push in the heat!

Temperatures started out around zero overnight, but a moderate southeasterly wind at sustained speeds of 20-30 km/h with gusts upwards of 40 km/h has helped mix down the mild air.

The mercury rose up to six degrees by noon with an afternoon high expected to be a degree or so higher under mostly cloudy skies making today the warmest day Saskatoon has seen since Oct. 4!

Tonight

The clouds will linger through the evening before some clearing overnight as temperatures dip back toward the freezing mark.

Friday

The work week will end off on a warmer and sunnier note as well with partly to mostly sunny skies expected through the day.

Winds will be a touch breezy from the west between 20 to 30 km/h with an afternoon high around eight degrees or so expected.

Weekend

A low pressure system rolling by south of the city will kick up the cloud and a chance of rain on Saturday with a daytime high likely to be back a bit as a result to around six degrees.

A building upper ridge should help bring back a bit of sunshine at least for later in the day on Sunday with a daytime high once again in mid-single digits.

Work Week Outlook

The final full work week of October looks to start out on a warm note with that upper ridge continuing to build helping to keep daytime highs in the seven or eight degree range Monday and Tuesday under mostly cloudy skies with a chance of showers as a system builds into Alberta.

That low pressure system will eventually swing through mid-week bringing back a return to that trend we’ve become accustomed to with cooler temperatures, mostly cloudy skies and a chance of showers.
