A tiny sidewalk in Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal borough is getting a makeover – but the 28-inch width (70 cm) walkway isn’t getting any wider.

The sidewalk, located on Brébeuf Street, was sliced last fall to make way for a new bike path.

While the tiny sidewalk might seem comical to some, Montreal disability rights group RAPLIQ argues people with disabilities and those in wheelchairs can’t possible use it.

Cyclist Sarah Girouard said she wonders if the city knows what it’s doing.

“I think it looks like all the other things that we see in the city,” she said.

Last fall, dancer Mistaya Hemingway and cameraman Jerome Watier-Sincennes found the sidewalk so small they insisted there’s only one thing to do: “dance.”

The sidewalk was first paved in October 2015.

This is the second time in a year it has been dug up.
