They’ve been friends for more than 15 years. Like any other group of friend they like to have fun and be there for each other.
They call each other Moms Gone Wild. A group of women who support each other, have a little fun, and support the Peachland and West Kelowna communities in which they live.
They get together every month to offer each other moral support and plan their next adventure.
“It’s interesting because at one of our last meetings we were discussing what we could do to give back. We never actually came to a decision on a group, an it was shortly after that Val suffered her brain aneurysm,” Said Kim Glover, long time friend of Val Levy and member of ‘Mom’s Gone Wild.
Head ‘Mom’ Val Levy suffered the brain aneurysm this past summer while she was visiting the Lower Mainland. She was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital where doctors only gave her a 20% chance of recovery.
“To be totally honest with you I don’t really remember much of the first month and a half,” says Val Levy about her ordeal.

She underwent brain surgery and then was airlifted back to Kelowna General Hospital to start on the road to recovery and now is almost back to 100%
True to form Val’s friends are there to give her the support she has showed so many in the community.
Val is known for donating her time to the local food bank, helping out with the local ringette team and Dry Grad – an even taking in those who were evacuated from their homes during the West Kelowna fire.
Now, Stacey Byrnes says they’ve gone ‘wild’ to help her out.
“We’re putting together a full blown luau with Hawaiian dancers, a pig roast a DJ, auction items and even a trip to Hawaii with a week’s accommodations.”
For Val, she just wants to get better…so she can get back at it.
“I’ve obviously survived for a reason so I better get to it and get on with life.”
The ‘Live a Little Luau’ for Val Levy takes place on Saturday October 27 at the Peachland Community Center call Tracey Boorman at 250-864-6606.
To make a donation to Val’s rehabilitation account, any HSBC branch can accept a donation. The account is in the name of Val’s husband:
