Montreal theatre group Geordie Productions is poised to premier a seasonal special with Ray Bradbury’s The Halloween Tree.

Bradbury’s story tells the tale of five 12-year-old children who meet up to go trick-or-treating on Halloween night.

Their best friend, Joe Pipkin, is too sick to go and tells them to meet at The House – an old, deserted place in the ravine that none of them have ever dared to visit on Halloween night.

When they arrive, Joe isn’t there and they instead encounter a mysterious man named Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud.

What follows is an epic journey into The Undiscovered Country to find out the hidden secrets of Halloween and to save Joe Pipkin.

“We recommend it for ages seven and up just because it’s a little scary,” cast member Eloi Archambaudoin said.

“But it’s also a lot of fun. I think the children will just appreciate finding out that there’s more behind Halloween than trick or treating.”

It’s the first time The Halloween Tree will be performed in Canada.

The play will be on from Oct. 21 to 30 at Concordia University’s D.B. Clarke Theatre.
