Community groups and organizations with projects tailored toward tackling sexualized violence in Nova Scotia have access to another $600,000 from the province.

The money will be made available through grants as part of the Sexual Violence Strategy, Community Services Minister Joanne Bernard announced Monday.
The hope is that people and groups with creative ideas on preventing sexual violence will apply.
In an August progress report on the strategy, the government said “communities have jumped right in,” and several groups were applying for, and being given money for their projects.

This is the second investment in the fund the government has made, bringing the total invested in the strategy to more than $1.2 million since its launch in June 2015.
One hundred community groups responded to the first call for applications, with 35 of them receiving money.

Amounts given to groups and projects range from $5,000 to $50,000 depending on the project.
The Sexual Violence Strategy is a three-year, $6-million provincial project focused on raising awareness, prevention and victim support.
