A mobile home fire in the southeast Edmonton community of Mill Woods Thursday morning saw firefighters remove six dead cats from the residence as well as a dog who did not survive.
No humans were injured as a result of the fire and firefighters were able to rescue two dogs and a cat from the home.
Crews with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services were called to the Lee Ridge Mobile Home Park on Lee Ridge Road at 11:42 a.m. after a neighbour reported flames and smoke could be seen at the property.
“The fire was very involved,” District Chief John Iwaniuk said. “With a lot of the initial flame, they fought a lot of it exterior-wise…it was very stubborn from the interior.
