Man charged with impaired driving after fatal Albert Street crash released on bail

The man charged with impaired driving in a crash that killed a woman in her late 20s has been released on bail.

Brendan Sugar, 28, appeared in court on Friday morning. He was released on a non-cash bail with a promised to reappear on Nov. 3.

Sugar was charged after the woman, a passenger of a Kia Spectra, was killed after a Dodge Journey struck the Kia at the intersection of Albert Street and 25th Ave. at around 3 a.m. CST on Oct. 8.

Police said the Kia was stopped at a red light facing north as the Dodge, travelling at a high speed, slammed into the rear of the vehicle.

Eric Sollosy, the driver of the Kia was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The victim of Saturday morning’s fatal accident has been identified as 28-year-old Adrienne Daigneault. Daigneault’s fiancé, Eric Sollosy, confirmed her identity to Global News Friday afternoon. The couple has a 9 year-old son together.

“She was amazing,” Sollosy said.

“A blessing to everybody she met. She was caring. She loved helping others and taking care of people. Was always giving things away to people who needed them.”

Daigneault had planned on shopping for her wedding dress during the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Sollosy said he is unhappy with the court’s decision to allow Sugar out on bail with conditions to reappear.

Sugar is facing five charges including impaired driving causing death.

Regina police said Sugar’s blood alcohol reading was double the legal limit, recorded between 180 – 190 mg.

Friends of Daigneault have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for her fiancé and son.
