A Kelowna based company is hoping to ’empower change one kid at a time.’
Change Gamers is a made-for-kids app that educates and connects children with local non-profits and charities in the Okanagan.
While the company has been around for just over a year, Change Gamers held a wide-scale launch Thursday in Kelowna’s City Park, inviting all grade six kids from school district 23 to attend.
Amid tons of games, bouncy castles and dance lessons, the 1,800 kids on hand had the chance to learn more about the non-profits who have teamed up with Change Gamers.
The grassroots Kelowna company started making its business plan at a local coffee shop. It now has eight staff and is continuing to grow.
Co-founder Peter MacLeod jumped on board with the goal of making a difference.
The company is for-profit, but its funding comes from corporate sponsors. Kids can download the app (with their parent’s approval via email) for free and 100 per cent of all donations made through Change Gamers goes directly to the selected charity.
