The Dartmouth Police Department posted the video Tuesday, in an attempt to stop any would-be pranksters from taking to the streets dressed as clowns.

The bizarre video borders on ridiculous at times, including one scene that makes a police cruiser look more like a clown car, as close to 10 officers file out of the vehicle and surround a clown.

The video suggests the department is taking the reported clown sightings seriously and will have plenty of officers on patrol to arrest perpetrators.

Despite the video, many police departments have stated that wearing a clown costume is not illegal, but committing criminal activities or carrying weapons while dressed as a clown could result in charges.
