EMS responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 22, just north of Highway 520 in the Municipal District of Ranchland at around 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
One person was killed and another person was flown to Foothills in non life-threatening condition.
EMS said a sedan and sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided west of Claresholm and both suffered significant damage.
The lone occupant of the sedan, believed to be a middle-age man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
The lone occupant of the SUV, another middle-age man, was assessed and stabilized by paramedics, then flown to the Foothills Medical Centre by STARS Air Ambulance.
He suffered multiple non life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition.
There is no word yet on what caused the collision.
Reports suggest the road was closed from the Nanton turnoff to Lundbreck.
