A Calgary man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught travelling up to 180 km/h on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Officers near Suffield, Alta., had attempted to stop the driver of a vehicle on Highway 1 on Monday evening, but RCMP said the driver took off, travelling at speeds reaching 180 kilometres an hour.

“Due to a high risk to public safety the vehicle was not pursued by police,” RCMP said in a Thursday news release.
Brooks RCMP later located the vehicle and used a spike belt to stop it. Two people inside the vehicle were arrested.
RCMP charged George Light with multiple offences including flight from police and possession of stolen property.
A female passenger, also from Calgary, is facing numerous property-related charges.
The hamlet of Suffield is located about 250 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
