RCMP had to call for back-up in an attempt to subdue a man at the Interior Health office building in downtown Kelowna.
The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the IH building on Ellis St where a man had assaulted a staff member who was trying to calm him down.
Police say the man assaulted a police officer and managed to grab the officer’s baton and proceeded to smash several windows.

Police attempted to subdue the man using a taser but the suspect continued to put up a fight. He was tasered again and taken into custody with the help of other police officers.
The suspect has been identified as a 44 year-old Kelowna man.
