Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Brendon LaBatte to contract extension

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed veteran offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte to a contract extension through the 2017 season Monday.

The six-foot-four, 304-pound LaBatte is in his fifth season with Saskatchewan after starting his CFL career with Winnipeg. LaBatte, 30, of Weyburn, Sask., has appeared in 139 career regular-season games, 137 as a starter.

The former University of Regina star helped Saskatchewan capture the 2013 Grey Cup and was the league’s top lineman that year.

Saskatchewan’s next game is on Friday when they travel to Ottawa to take on the Redblacks.
