A man from the northeastern Alberta remains in hospital over three weeks after being attacked, and another man is facing serious charges.
On Sept. 5, a 32-year-old man from the Kehewin Cree Nation was assaulted. Bonnyville RCMP arrived to find him in the driveway of a home suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries.
The victim was brought to an Edmonton hospital, where he remained as of Thursday.
With the help of investigators from Edmonton, Bonnyville RCMP identified a suspect. They executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home and seized evidence.
On Sept. 28, 29-year-old Jordan Hector Soloway of Elk Point was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, which is laid in cases where a victim sustains a serious injury such as broken bones or lacerations.
Soloway will remain in police custody until his first appearance at Bonnyville Provincial Court on Oct. 4.
Police couldn’t say if the victim and suspect knew each other.
Kehewin Cree Nation is located half way between Elk Point and Bonnyville, and is about 235 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
