Police have one person in custody and are searching for a second person following two unrelated robberies in Saskatoon over the weekend.

The first robbery happened late Sunday morning near the intersection of 2nd Avenue North and 23rd Street East.

A woman told police she was approached by another woman who asked to see her phone.

When she refused, she said the woman threatened to stab her if she didn’t hand over the phone.

She then fled with the phone.

The woman is described as indigenous, around 30, five-foot five with a slim build and brown, shoulder-length hair parted in the middle. She was wearing a black or grey cardigan sweater and blue jeans.

The second robbery happened Sunday evening when a masked man armed with a knife robbed a gas station in the 200-block of Avenue B North.

He took off on a bike with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A patrol officer in the area located a man on a bike matching the robber’s description.

Police said a search turned up the exact amount of money stolen from the gas station and what they said was a large hunting knife.

A 31-year-old man is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, along with breaching probation and undertakings.
