Upon further investigation, the fire department learned that the system had been activated due to a steam leak. SFD said the steam may have contained small amounts of potassium hydroxide and ammonia.
Working in conjunction with the U of S staff, the Hazmat crew entered the area with protective gear to determine the severity of the leak.
The leak turned out to minor and was contained to one room. The product in the area involved dissipated with detector readings showing at the zero level.
