A home outside Whitecourt, Alta. was destroyed by fire Saturday morning and police suspect it was deliberately set.
Shortly before 6:00 a.m. Saturday, Whitecourt Fire and Whitecourt RCMP responded to the house fire on Range Road 115 in Woodlands County. The home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

While fighting the fire, crews heard explosions from inside the structure consistent with the sound of discharging ammunition. No one was hurt as a result of these explosions.
Despite best efforts, the home was completely destroyed.

Police said they are investigating the fire as an arson. RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Alberta Municipal Affairs Office of the Fire Commissioner are helping with the investigation.
Whitecourt is about 180 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
