The Saskatchewan government is providing nearly $1 million to restore the marina and dock at Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park.

The marina was severely damaged back in April 2015 due to high water levels and ice on Last Mountain Lake, which makes up part of the provincial park.

Since last April, the marina has not been operational since significant work is required for restoration. The redevelopment project will include a new floating dock and anchoring system.

The funding is being provided through the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).

“Saskatchewan’s provincial parks are places where visitors come to relax and reconnect with nature,” Ken Cheveldayoff, Saskatchewan Parks, Culture and Sport minister, said in a statement.

“The project will restore access to the lake and enhance the visitor experience at Rowan’s Ravine.”

Harbuilt Construction will begin the redevelopment work this fall.

The marina is scheduled to be nearly complete by the 2017 parks season.

The Saskatchewan government said it has provided more than $200 million for provincial parks since 2007. The funding includes capital expenditures and investment, operational funding and parks programming.
