MONTREAL – Communications company Cogeco Inc. (TSX:CGO) plans to open a data centre in Montreal, an investment that could reach $100 million over 10 years.
Chief executive Louis Audet says the Montreal data centre would be in addition to five data centres in Toronto and one in Vancouver.

Audet told a luncheon speech in Montreal that the new centre will allow companies to outsource their data servers, which take up a lot of space and require specialized employees to look after them.
Audet didn’t elaborate on what companies Cogeco could target for data hosting services in Montreal.
Like other communications and telecom companies, Cogeco offers data hosting services to store and move companies’ data.
