A mother and her four-year-old daughter have died from their injuries after a head-on collision in Markham Monday morning.

York Regional Police say the crash, involving a black Toyota Corolla and a black Infinity G35, happened around 9:40 a.m. on 16th Avenue, east of Bur Oak Avenue.

Police say the 42-year-old woman and the young girl were taken to hospital where they both later died.

The 28-year-old man driving the Infinity, and a five-month-old girl passenger, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators are looking to speak with witnesses who saw the collision or the drivers’ behaviour before the incident.
