The street will be closed in both directions over the weekend between Nazareth and Duke streets, and Nazareth will itself be closed between Wellington and Brennan.

If you can’t avoid the area, the city suggests using one of the following detours as shown on the map. Street closures are expected to end Monday at 5 a.m.

The demolition of the expressway started in July and the construction of the new boulevard, including the re-configuration of the area to incorporate more green space, trees, bus and bike lanes, is expected to be finished by fall 2017.

The project comes with a $141 million price tag and aims to better integrate downtown with Griffintown and the Lachine Canal.
