Saskatchewan Egg Producers makes donation to Saskatoon Food Bank
Saskatchewan Egg Producers dropped off nearly 19,000 eggs at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
Star Egg delivered the precious cargo Friday morning.
Officials say it’s a timely donation, with many families already stretching budgets during back-to-school season.
And eggs provide a fresh and healthy option.
“We know that eggs are quite literally food for thought and it’s important for children as they go back to their studies,” said Cam Broten, the executive director of Saskatchewan Egg Producers.
“That’s why today we’re very happy to make this donation of eggs to the food bank.”

The number of people visiting the food bank has risen to more than 21,000 per month, many whom are children.
“Half of the people using the food bank, just about, are children,” said Laurie O’Connor, the executive director of the food bank.
“That should be worrying every community member in Saskatoon.”
Shawn Harman, chair of Saskatchewan Egg Producers, said the donation is one way the organization is giving back to the community.
