A super surprise brought lots of smiles to families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital on Wednesday.
Window washers arriving for the building’s annual cleaning showed up in full superhero costumes.
“Turn your walker around, so you can see,” Melanie Nielson told her nine-year-old son, Ethan.
Looking up, Ethan could see Spiderman, Iron Man, Thor and The Hulk, scaling down the side of the hospital while squeegeeing the windows.
Ethan’s been receiving treatment at the hospital since being hit by a truck five months ago.
“These kids don’t have a lot of hope, with what they’re going through,” Nielson said, adding that seeing the superheroes there “gives them some happiness and joy.”
In keeping with superhero custom, the window washers didn’t want to reveal their identities, or even the name of their company.
But the man dressed as Spiderman told Global News it’s the parents who are making an impact.
“You see all the parents and the sick kids, see what they go through – they’re the real heroes.”
