TDSB needs $3.4 billion to fix schools, 200 facilities cited ‘critical’

The Toronto District School Board has released a comprehensive list of schools requiring repairs.

According to the TDSB, approximately 200 of the 588 active schools have been categorized as in “critical need of repair.”

The board said $166 million has been allocated by the Ontario government to address the backlog.

Earlier this year the province announced $2.7 billion in renewal funds for the next two school years.

Officials said none of the repairs listed “represents a health or safety concern for students or staff.”
