The 2016 Canadian Pacific Women’s Open gets underway at the Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club in Calgary on Monday.

The LPGA tournament features 97 of the top 100 players in the world, including over 30 Olympians.

Tournament Director Bret McLaughlin said the timing of this year’s event is “unique.”

“When you’re sitting at home, you always have your TV tuned to the Olympics, so I think the tie-in between golf being back in the Olympics for the first time in over 100 years – it’s thrilling – it’s great for us.”

“If you’re an average golf fan, or not a golf fan at all, or a hardcore golf fan – there’s something out there for everybody.”

Previous winners include Lydia Ko, So Yeon Ryu, Brittany Lincicome, Michelle Wie, Suzann Pettersen, Katherine Hull-Kirk, Lorena Ochoa, Cristie Kerr, Meena Lee, Meg Mallon and Annika Sorenstam.

2016 marks the championship’s third time at Priddis Greens.

The tournament wraps up on Sunday, Aug. 28.
