Frank Ocean has finally released some new and long-awaited music in the form of a surprise visual album titled Endless. It’s now available on Apple Music and his official website.

The 18 tracks have been released as one long, black-and-white video in which Ocean appears to be building a spiral staircase in his warehouse.

The 45-minute visual album has already drawn comparisons to Beyoncé’s recent video album Lemonade.

The release came amid other reports, including from music website Pitchfork, that a new album from Ocean would come this weekend.

Rumours began to circulate that the Grammy award-winning singer would release his sophomore studio album, Boys Don’t Cry on August 5 as an exclusive on Apple Music, which was reported by the New York Times, though this never happened.

Rolling Stone has confirmed that Endless is a different project from his proper new album and the title Boys Don’t Cry has been scrapped by the singer in favour of an alternate title.

Endless features a mixture of diverse musicians including Jazmine Sullivan, Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood, James Blake, British R&B vocalist Sampha and producer Arca.

Fans have been awaiting the arrival of the album for four years.

Ocean’s widely acclaimed debut album, Channel Orange, was released in 2012 and the record featured the hit song Thinkin bout You, which earned him two Grammy awards, including best urban contemporary album.
