Director Kevin Smith has never been one to hold back, especially where his 17-year-old daughter is concerned.
Harley Quinn Smith is the latest female celebrity victim of online harassment; she posted a picture of herself on her Instagram account and was confronted by a vicious internet troll.
“You’re ugly as s**t,” Instagram user kingpsysyphus wrote to the actress. “You’re cancer and I sincerely hope you end up like Lindsay Lohan and dead.”
The post also included more statements, loaded with expletives and calling her “talentless.”
Not having any of it, the outspoken father and Clerks star blasted the troll in defense of his daughter Monday.
“What it’s like to be my daughter: 17 year old @harleyquinnsmith_ received this message simply for the heinous crime of posting a pic of herself on @Instagram,” Smith’s post reads. “Wow – way to unload on a teen girl because YOU have nothing to do in life.”

Smith claims his daughter thought it was funny and laughed it off, but he wasn’t about to do the same.
“But here’s a nickel’s worth of free advice for folks like this Troll,” he said. “If you hate me (or my kid) this much, the better use of your time is to make YOUR dreams come true, instead of slamming others for doing the same. The best revenge is living insanely well – so if you wanna get back at a 17 year old girl for the grievous crime of enjoying her life, the best way to do it is to succeed in your OWN existence.”
His clap-back has since garnered over 18,400 likes.
“We should all strive to be as wickedly awesome as the Smith family,” wrote bgkelley in a comment.
“Well said!” wrote mivi3k. “And kudos to your daughter for being thicker-skinned, sassier, and wittier than I was at age seventeen.”

Harley Quinn has since deleted all comments from her photos on her Instagram.
In July, Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones was attacked on Twitter and received racist tweets about her role in the movie Ghostbusters.
Team USA gymnast Gabby Douglas was also hit hard on social media with non-stop criticism during her stint at the Rio Games. She was accused of being unpatriotic and bitter of her teammates’ wins.
