Residents and environmentalists in Pointe-Claire gathered at Tuesday night council meeting to demand answers as to when the PCB contaminated site at 86 Hymus Blvd. will be cleaned up.

“The Ministry of Environment could have taken control of this site on March 11, 2016 and put the calls out for tenders then and it would’ve been cleaned up by now,” said Quebec Green Party leader Alex Tyrell.

“Instead, we’ve had one delay after another.”

The constant delays and confusion has one resident questioning council.

Supporters of the clean-up want the city to be more involved, but that’s something that Trudeau insisted isn’t easy.

“We cannot say ‘woah, stop it, this is not working, we’re not happy.’ We are going to follow this situation very closely,” Trudeau said.

The constant delays have Sayegh wondering if Pointe-Claire has any interest in the project.

Trudeau argued when council finds out about the plans, the city will let its residents know.

“When they inform this council, we will inform the public,” Trudeau said.
