Shop vacuum full of cash seized during Saskatoon police drug bust

A 33-year-old man is facing drug trafficking charges after the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) found some interesting items in a shop vacuum cleaner this past weekend.

On Aug. 14, SPS were informed by another police agency that a stolen SUV may have been travelling from Alberta into Saskatoon.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 just outside of Saskatoon. The driver was taken into custody.

SPS said a Shop-Vac was found that contained $20 bills, cell phones and drug paraphernalia. In total, $7,000 in cash was recovered during a search of the SUV.

A small amount of cocaine and around 21 grams of methamphetamine were also seized.

The vehicle was reported stolen in Medicine Hat, Alta.

The Moose Jaw man is facing charges of possession of stolen property, possession of cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Police said he was expected to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Monday afternoon.
