The 2016 Bantam Box Lacrosse National Championship took place in Saskatoon in August, with seven teams looking to prove who is the best in Canada.
The Saskatchewan squad was looking to improve on a fifth-place finish in 2015.

On Aug. 2, Team Saskatchewan opened the tournament with a 4-0 loss to the First Nations team, but bounced back with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win over Manitoba in its next game.
A 9-4 loss to Alberta on Aug. 3 dropped the host team to fifth place in the standings with a 1-2 record.
Saskatchewan faced a virtual must-win battle and won in overtime 7-6 against Nova Scotia to keep their hopes of a medal alive.
On Aug. 4, Saskatchewan closed out the round robin with a pair of lopsided losses. Ontario beat the host team 13-2 and then they were blanked 8-0 by B.C.

Saskatchewan was out of the running for a medal, but still had a chance to match last year’s finish. The host team did just that by beating Nova Scotia 8-2.
Ontario hammered Alberta 13-1 to win the 2016 Bantam Box Lacrosse National Championship at Gordie Howe Kinsmen Arena on Aug. 6.
