iPhone 5 pre-orders top 2 million in 24 hours, exceed initial supply

TORONTO – Just days before its North American release, the iPhone 5 is already setting records.

Pre-orders for the new device topped 2 million in 24 hours, more than double the amount of iPhone 4S pre-orders, according to Apple.

The company also says that while most pre-orders will be delivered on Friday, demand exceeds the initial supply, so some of the devices are scheduled for delivery in October.

The iPhone 5 features many upgrades, including a larger four-inch screen and a sleek new body, featuring a two-tone aluminum and glass backing.

According to Apple’s latest announcement, the iPhone 5 may become the most popular iPhone to date.
